John Slavin is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, arranger, and performing artist currently located in Austin, TX. His studio work can be heard with artists such as blue smiley, Cazayoux, Alex G, Spirit of the Beehive, and dozens more.
John is currently focused on managing the archival project of blue smiley, which has received international praise from Stereogum and others alike for its influence on indie-rock music as a whole. Although short lived prior to bandmate Brian Nowell’s untimely death, this project lives on through the efforts of John and surviving band members.
He is also focused on composing and arranging for the 10-piece Austin-based afro-beat/ New Orleans funk project, Cazayoux. John reaches into his primal trumpet and horn arranging talent to bring a unique international blend of compositions with deep grooves and fascinating harmony.
